Frequently asked questions
How does buying a quarter, half, or whole cow work?
It’s simple — you reserve your share with a deposit, and once your steer is ready, we’ll walk you through your custom cut list. Your beef is processed locally, vacuum-sealed, and flash-frozen for freshness. You’ll get a pickup or delivery date when it’s ready to fill your freezer.
How much meat will I get?
A quarter beef yields around 100–125 lbs, a half beef around 200–250 lbs, and a whole beef around 400–500 lbs of packaged meat. These are averages — every animal is a little different, just like nature intended.
How much freezer space do I need?
You’ll need roughly:
- Quarter Beef: 3–4 cubic feet
- Half Beef: 6–8 cubic feet
- Full Beef: 2–16 cubic feet
Think of a quarter beef as about the size of a standard chest freezer.
Can I choose how my beef is butchered?
Yes! For half and whole orders, we’ll help you complete a cut sheet so you can choose steak thickness, roast sizes, grind ratio, and more. For quarter shares, we use a balanced “standard cut” that gives you a nice mix of everything.
How is your beef raised?
Our cattle are pasture-raised right here in Texas, grazing on open fields and finished naturally. We ranch with care for the land — no feedlots, no shortcuts, and no unnecessary additives. It’s the way beef oughta be.
Do you ship or is it local pickup only?
We primarily serve local customers with on-ranch pickup or local delivery, depending on location. If you’re nearby, we’ll make sure getting your beef is easy and convenient.
How long will my beef last in the freezer?
Properly vacuum-sealed beef will stay fresh for 12–18 months in a deep freeze without losing flavor or quality.
Is it really cheaper to buy beef this way?
Yes — when you buy in bulk, you’re paying one flat price per pound for premium local beef, including all cuts. You get steaks, roasts, and ground beef for less than grocery store prices — and you know exactly where it came from.
Why buy direct from the ranch instead of the store?
Because you’re getting better beef and a better story. Buying direct means no middlemen, no mass processing, and no mystery. Just honest Texas beef from people who raise it with pride.
